The Body of Evidence podcast is looking for a part-time social media manager freelancer to help our science-based medical podcast reach an even larger audience!
Who we are
The Body of Evidence was created in 2015 as a science-based medical podcast that looks at the evidence behind health topics and translates it to a non-expert audience. Dr. Christopher Labos and Jonathan Jarry look at the body of evidence behind treatments for infertility, the efficacy of flu vaccines, how much water you should drink, whether or not nootropics really boost mental performance, and many more, and frame this research around comedy skits, fake sponsorships ads, musical jingles and humour to help the medicine go down.
The podcast is recorded in Montreal, Canada and has a presence on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and on most podcatchers. A regular episode is released at the beginning of each month and a long-form interview episode midway through the month. We also produce comedic science cartoons to help people understand the complexities and nuance of medical practice, scientific research, and biostatistics.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for a social media manager freelancer to help us reach a larger audience on social media and to increase our listenership. Our social media manager would listen to new episodes of the show and excerpt clips to promote on social media; post and promote the jingles played in each episode on appropriate social media platforms; help us better promote the science cartoons; promote our media appearances on social media; and slowly develop a social media strategy tailored to our show to help us reach a larger audience.
The applicant should have experience managing social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram as well as using the Creator interface on YouTube and a similar website interface. Knowledge of additional social media platforms a plus. The applicant should display creativity, a good sense of visual design, and be able to write in impeccable English. They should also have an interest in science communication and the health sciences. Reliability, good communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines a must. Must be familiar with the Body of Evidence podcast.
The work would be done remotely and the manager would report back to Jonathan Jarry and would interface with him and Dr. Christopher Labos. The applicant does not need to live in Canada to be eligible.
The hourly rate is CAD 18.00 and the job requires two hours a week.
